A Hidden Trail Worth Exploring

The Audubon Center feels like a step out of time — open boardwalks, soft river bends, and canopies of trees that catch the light just right. Tucked along the Pomperaug River, it’s one of those places that stays with you. Whether you're a photographer or just someone needing stillness, it delivers.

Shooting Along the Way

I didn’t set out to make this a photo session, but the fall colors had other plans. The wooden footpath cutting through the forest, the warm tones popping against deep greens — everything just worked. This is exactly the kind of spot I’m always looking for: quiet, scenic, and full of natural texture.

Connecticut Photo Hike Tips

  • Pack light — one camera and one lens go a long way (all these were shot with a 5DC and 16-35 Lens)

  • Early morning or late afternoon light is perfect here

  • Look for bridges, water crossings, and wide open clearings

  • Fall is unbeatable, but all seasons have great moods too

location Scouting or Just Breathing

As a photographer, I’m always hunting for spots that feel like something. Places with character, depth, and a sense of space. This trail checks every box — and then some. Whether I come back here for a client session or just another walk, it's one for the list.
